Why Choose a Paje Holiday Package?
Paje sits on Zanzibar's southeast coast and has earned its reputation as the island's kite surfing capital. The wide tidal flats create a natural lagoon when the tide goes out, offering shallow turquoise water that is perfect for learners and seasoned riders alike. A structured holiday package takes the stress out of planning — transfers, accommodation, lessons and excursions are all arranged before you even board the plane.
Beyond the kite beach, Paje is a genuine fishing village where seaweed farmers wade through the shallows every morning and local dhows rock gently on the tide. Our packages blend activity with relaxation so that you experience both the adrenaline of kite surfing and the slow magic of an east coast sunset over the Indian Ocean.
IKO Kite Surfing — Learn in Paje
Paje is consistently ranked among the best kite surfing destinations in the world, thanks to reliable southeast trade winds from June through October and the sheltered shallow lagoon at low tide. Our kite surf packages include IKO-certified instruction from qualified instructors, all safety equipment, and a beach lodge within walking distance of the launch spot.
Whether you have never held a bar before or you are working towards your first water start, the structured progression of an IKO course means you will leave Paje with real skills. Intermediate and advanced riders will also find long downwinders, wave sessions and freestyle practice all easily accessible from the main beach.
East Coast Beaches & Tidal Flat Snorkeling
The tidal flats that stretch south from Paje toward Jambiani are a remarkable natural feature. At low tide they reveal a vast expanse of sand and seagrass teeming with starfish, sea cucumbers, octopus and small reef fish. Snorkeling on the edge of the flat as the tide returns is an unforgettable experience, and our beach escape packages include guided excursions so you find the best spots every time.
The beach itself is wide and powdery white, fringed by casuarina pines that provide natural shade. Early mornings before the wind picks up are magical — the sea is flat, the light is golden, and you will share the shore with only local fishermen and the occasional dhow making its way south along the coast.
Boutique Accommodation in Paje
Paje has developed a cluster of characterful boutique lodges and beach bungalows that suit every budget. Our packages place guests in handpicked properties ranging from simple bungalows with garden bathrooms to elegant lodge suites overlooking the ocean. Each property is vetted for comfort, cleanliness, and proximity to the beach — so you are never far from the action or the sunset.
Luxury travellers will appreciate the private beach dinner and spa treatments included in our Paje Luxury Retreat package, while budget-conscious adventurers can enjoy a perfectly comfortable and social atmosphere at one of our partner kite surf camps. Whatever your style, waking up a short walk from the Indian Ocean is an experience that never gets old.

Kite Surfing Season at a Glance
The Paje kite season runs from June through October when the Kusi (southeast) trade wind blows consistently at 15–25 knots. July and August are the peak months. The Kaskazi (northeast) wind from December through March offers lighter, more variable conditions — better suited to intermediate riders than complete beginners.
Water temperature stays between 26°C and 30°C year-round — no wetsuit needed. The lagoon at low tide is thigh- to chest-deep for several hundred metres, making Paje one of the safest beginner kite destinations in the world.
