Overview
The Pemba Flying Fox (Pteropus voeltzkowi) is a large fruit bat endemic to Pemba Island and listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. A guided walk through Pemba’s indigenous forest at dusk reveals these impressive animals — with wingspans of up to 1.6 metres — roosting in the tree canopy and beginning their nightly foraging flights.
